- Perimeter

The perimeter is defined as the length of the outline of a shape or It is the distance around the outside of a shape.

To calculate the perimeter of a square or a rectangle we have to add the lengths of all the four sides. Let's assume 'a' is the length of the rectangle while 'b' is the width of the rectangle. The perimeter P is:

P = a + a + b + b **OR**

P = 2(a + b)

In case of square as all side are equal, so assume a is the length of each side. So perimeter is :

P = a + a + a + a **OR**

P = 4(a)

**Q.** The perimeter of a rectangle is 326 cm and its length is 98 cm find its breadth and area.

**Q.** The length and diagonal of a rectangle are 40 cm and 41 cm find its breadth and perimeter.
