Mixture-The substance that are formed by simple mixing of two or more pure elements or compounds in any proportion are called mixtures.
No chemical reaction takes place in mixtures.
Mixtures can be separated into pure substances using appropriate separation techniques like filtration, sedimentation etc.
A mixture shows the properties of the constituent substance.
Homogeneous mixture-A mixture in which the constituents are uniformly distributed throughout and thus have a uniform composition.
It has no visible boundaries of separation between it's various constituents.
Examples-sugar in water, salt in water, air, soda water, sulphur in carbon disulfide, water and alcohol.
Heterogeneous mixture -A mixture in which the constituents are not uniformly distributed throughout and thus have a non uniform composition.
It has visible boundaries of separation between it's various constituents.
Examples-sand and salt, water in oil, blood, wood, sugar and salt, salt and iron filling
